DAN Asia-Pacific Monthly Diving Incident Statistics
DAN Asia-Pacific has commenced sharing with the recreational diving community a sample of the “Calls for Help” received at the DAN AP office. We hope sharing these statistics will further encourage divers to be aware of potential issues, be prepared and dive carefully.
In addition, this information will highlight the broad nature of “Help” calls received and that calls come in from all over the region.
CLICK HERE to view a sample of non-fatal calls for help involving DAN AP Members during December 2011.
These statistics are based on the calls made directly to DAN Asia-Pacific. They exclude the calls made directly to the various DAN Asia-Pacific 24-Hour Emergency Hotlines, or via one of the other DAN branches: DAN America, DAN Europe, DAN Southern Africa, DAN Japan). Naturally, the statistics would be far greater if these additional “Help Calls” were included.
We will continue sharing these statistics with you on a regular basis in the hope you and your dive buddies are aware that diving incidents do occur and the importance of being prepared.
Being prepared involves becoming a member of an organisation that has a sole mission of helping divers in need. The Divers Alert Network (DAN) has 30+ years experience of helping divers in emergency situations.
